Employers, healthcare
organizations and government officials from across the Greater Louisville area
are exploring the development of a new initiative called a Community Health
Record Bank. When built, the Community Health Record Bank (CHR Bank) will store
and protect private health information for individuals and their families.
Individuals will then be able to make their information available to their
health professionals through a secure electronic network. The CHR bank is
expected to lead to improved
quality, better patient safety and lower costs of healthcare for
individuals.
The CHR Bank may also benefit
Health Plans, Payors and TPAs
("plans"). Some examples of
possible new benefits include:
-
–Reduced
claims payments due to reduced duplication of services and medical
errors
-
Reduced claims
payment due to improved health status of members / patients / fraud
& abuse
-
Reduced operational
costs due to improved eligibility processing, benefit compliance,
and self-service applications
-
Reduced operational
